For many of us, school years and our associated school building(s), leave a grand impression that can last for many decades. Actually, likewise many in childhood or during adolescence experienced emotions make a lasting impression. With this in mind, I designed a school building with a clear and bold impression (a piece of light weight Pop-art) that is intended to embed itself in the memory of its users and hopefully that of all local residents. This is how we form a collective memory of our objects and spaces. The building is immediately readable. It stands parallel to the road and it is enclosed by trees. The location of the main entrance is pointing out with an excessive amount of red facade parts. The main entrance gives a direct view of the central and open stairwell. The auditorium and canteen are the largest spaces, which are located next to the multi-storey high building section, so that they can remain column-free. The deep recesses enhance the sculptural effect of its simple mass. This building looks heavy and monumental, familiar perhaps, in order to promise that intended steadfastness over time. Don't worry, there's more to it; in a good Modernist tradition, the building is so transparent that its inside interacts with the street.
