Aldo Rossi leerde me in zijn Scientific Autobiography dat architectuur en theater dicht bij elkaar liggen. In elke publieke ruimte lijken wij mensen dan ook op zoek te gaan naar verondersteld, gekend drama en we menen maar al te graag dat daar ons modieus optreden vanzelfsprekend zal worden opgemerkt. De trappartijen in dit banale winkelcentrum zouden dan ook niet misstaan in de foyer van een theater. Een representatief podium om je te tonen.
In his “Scientific Autobiography” Aldo Rossi taught me that architecture and theatre are close. Evidently, in public space, we humans seem to go in search of known drama and we are quick to believe that our fashionable performance will obviously be noticed. Thus, the stairs in this banal shopping mall may have been designed for the foyer of a theatre.
